Pair of antique Copeland Spode England ironstone plates in the Tower Blue patter with the old makers stamp on the back that dates to the 1920s. The Tower pattern was based on a printed illustration in James Merigot's Views of Rome and Its Vicinity published in 1796-98 which was the source for several Spode patterns. Tower depicts the Bridge of Salaro near Porta Salara, Rome. The bridge which originally had a keep built on top of it survives today although it is now unfortunately underneath the main route leading out of Rome to the airport.

Great condition for age with slight crazing and silverware marks on each. Luncheon plate has a small chip under rim that is not noticeable from the top.
Includes luncheon plate (9.25”D) and dinner plate (10.5”D).

**Many more blue and white plates available from years of collecting for a large blue and white plate wall display**
