Custom made (by “Morton” Fort Wayne, Indiana) for my mother’s mother’s mother’s mother (my great great grandmother) Susan Ann Talbot (1850-1929). She married my great great grandfather Robert Franklin Keith (1842–1919) on March 9, 1872.

I haven’t wanted to part with this because I think it’s so beautiful, albeit slowly falling apart. Plus it’s a part of my family history. I don’t think it’s wearable. Even attempting to button it could disrupt the delicate silk. I don’t even know what I should price this at since it’s an artifact. I wish it weren’t damaged. But the interior remains pristinely intact. But exterior silk is splitting in observable locations, including visible patches. I thought perhaps someone interested in this era, or a fashion designer or student, might like this. It’s special!
