Antique German art pottery jug / pitcher, green-blue glazed with expressive abstract hand-painted decoration, attributed to Margarete Heymann and executed by Haël-Werkstätten für Künstlerische Keramik, Germany, circa 1923–1932.


This form, glaze palette, and painterly motif are characteristic of Bauhaus-era Haël production under Margarete Heymann’s direction. Marked “Germany” on the base with factory stamp.


Margarete Heymann is a significant Bauhaus-era ceramic designer, and works attributed to her are held in museum collections and sought after by collectors of early modernist pottery.
