Dunbar Clear Glass Graduated Round Loops 1920’s Era Pitcher in pristine condition. 11 1/2” tall, 6” by 5” at mouth top, 3 3/4” diameter at base. Weighs about 3 lbs. Opalescent. Has a distinct, Art Deco design with an ice lip (keeps ice back inside pitcher when pouring). Small air bubbles throughout and other signs of hand workmanship, like the glass applied handle. Dunbar made these simple but elegant heavy glass blown pitchers in West Virginia from 1913 to 1953. They were called “French Jug Pitchers,” used for water, lemonade, iced tea, even mixed drinks. The thick glass is called Depression glass, even though this Pitcher dates to just before the Great Depression. Many of these pitchers had colored glass. It’s actually unusual to find a clear glass one like this. This is Art Deco design with the puffy horizontal loops and the pinched Ewer style mouth, to keep out ice cubes or fruits when pouring. This is a treasure in mint condition. It’s about 100 years old. Price is firm.
