My History of Sourcing Martin Margiela

From the 2011 Fall/Winter season, the import agency listed on Martin Margiela tags changed to "Staff International Japan Co., Ltd."

I began handling Martin Margiela in earnest after 1995.

At the time, I was friendly with the owner of "Kika," a legendary select shop in Hamamatsu, and sometimes accompanied them on buying trips.

Around the year 2000, I began sourcing Margiela and Junya Watanabe from "Kokonoe," and even earlier, I enjoyed participating in the forward-thinking buying of "Kika," which had been stocking a large quantity of Undercover since **1990**.

I lived in London from 1993, and around 2008, I learned that a friend who was interested in apparel had studied apparel at Harrods and Selfridges and was then running an online-only select shop in London. This led to the start of transactions with him. After 2015, the agency changed from "Kokonoe" to "Staff International," and the items sourced from the UK also came with "Staff" tags. However, the items selected by my friend in London were very refined, and I continued to choose products that reflected the unique sense that Margiela had during the "Kokonoe" era.

I carefully selected items with excellent silhouettes and details from the samples shown at exhibitions and sourced those in good condition.
