Founded in 1937 by a British tailor, it was introduced to the United States. In the 1950s, it acquired the right to use the "Lacoste" trademark for polo shirts and became famous for a time as "IZOD Lacoste." Later, the licensing agreement ended, and it is now operated as an independent brand.
